Former “F” Division Chairman Thomas Bianchi - Dies Suddenly

"F" Division Chairman
Thomas Bianchi, former Chairman of the F Division died on March 28, 2010 at the age of 65. Tom was initiated into the Manufacturing Division of Local 3 on May 24, 1976. He began his career at Cerro Wire and Cable, a manufacturer of copper electrical wire and cable where he worked as a machine operator and set-up man. Always eager to help his fellow co-workers, he was appointed shop steward by Assistant Business Manager Louis Stein. He also served as shop steward at McPhilben Lighting and Cooper Atlite.
Tom was the chairman of the F division and a vital member of the negotiating committee. He served as President of the 419 Spartan Club, was a Trustee on the Employee Security Fund, and was on the Board of Directors on the Electrical Workers Death Benefits Society. He also served on the Election Board as an inspector and judge and served on the Local 3 By-laws committee. He attended the IBEW convention in Cleveland, Ohio in September 2006 as an alternate delegate. Always active throughout his career, Brother Bianchi will be truly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Born in Brooklyn in 1944, he resided in Maspeth Queens N.Y. with his wife of 35 years, Margaret. He is survived by his son Bryan Bianchi, sister Merle Chang and brother Milton Bianchi. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Bianchi was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
