Employees Security Fund’s 55th Annual College Scholarship Awards
The Employees Security Fund of the Electrical Products Industries is proud to announce the opening of competition for the 2010 College Scholarship Awards Program. The Program offers up to a four-year college scholarship for the winner.
Eligibility
There are two eligibility requirements:
• A son or daughter of an employee is eligible to compete for a scholarship if he or she is within one year of graduating high school.
• The employee has had at least sixty months of contributions made on his or her behalf by one or more contributing employers in the six years immediately preceding the date of the application.
Four-year Scholarship
Must be used at an accredited college or university (public or independent, located in the state whose borders are within a 500-mile radius of New York City) that grants a bachelor’s degree. The amount of the scholarship award is as follows:
a) If the annual tuition expense of the institution is $2,000 or less, the amount of the scholarship is the full annual tuition expense each year for a total of four years of study.
b) If the annual tuition expense of the institution is more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, the amount of the scholarship is 50% of the annual tuition expense or $2,000 a year (whichever is greater), for a total of four years of study.
c) If the annual tuition expense of the institution is more than $10,000, the amount of the scholarship is $5,000 a year for a total of four years of study.
How to Apply
1. Take the College Board SAT I and SAT II subject tests as required by January 22, 2010. (These tests may not be available on the same date. Check with your guidance counselor.)
2. Complete the application and mail it along with a copy of your high school academic transcript (including your first semester senior year marks) and your SAT I and SAT II scores to the attention of the Fund as indicated below by March 31, 2010.
3. Mail a photocopy of a letter of admission from the college of your choice to the address below as soon as possible.
You are welcome to submit letters of recommendation from a teacher, coach, employer, etc., or any other evidence of your achievements or contributions to your school or community.
