Business Manager Christopher Erikson comments to the Wage and Policy Committee on the stated purpose of the Pension, Hospitalization and Benefit Plan of the Electrical Industry.

On December 8th, Business Manager Christopher Erikson and the officers of Local 3 met with the Wage and Policy Committee in anticipation of the upcoming collective bargaining season in the Construction Department. The Committee received reports from Assistant Business Managers Raymond Melville, Paul Ryan, Lance Van Arsdale and Luis Restrepo on the circumstances within each of their departments.
Business Manager Erikson reported that the employers were already seeking changes in the interpretation of the Employment Plan. “As you know, in December it will be decided what the amount of furlough will be for the period of January through June 2010; although it is not yet determined, it appears that it will be 14 weeks due to the present level of unemployment,” stated Erikson.
President Marchell reported that the ‘A’ journeypersons from the apprentices classes of 2005, 6 and 7 will meet on December 21st to elect members of their respective classes to the Committee and that the Negotiating Committee will be selected at the January meeting of the full Wage and Policy Committee.
